A healthy environment is our responsibility, and Grenada’s future depends on it.
GRENADA’S BLUE ECONOMY
GNExTT is a working contributor to Grenada’s Blue Economy, the national vision that treats our ocean as a long-term productive asset, not a resource to be extracted. Every fish we process, every fisherman we partner with, and every export box we ship is built around that principle: a healthy sea is a profitable sea.
GNExTT was built on a simple premise: fishing communities in Grenada can only thrive if the ocean thrives. We operate the first Tuna Comprehensive Fishery Improvement Project in Grenada and the Caribbean. This structured program is designed to move our tuna fisheries toward full sustainability certification.
Our fishermen use pole-and-line, trolling, and artisanal longline methods. These low-impact approaches minimise bycatch and avoid the destructive techniques used by industrial fleets. This type of fishing can remain viable for generations, and it produces a better-quality, more traceable fish.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING
🎣
Our fishermen use pole-and-line, trolling, and small-boat longlining, which are methods with minimal bycatch and environmental impact. We do not use purse seines or industrial gear. These are the same fishing techniques that Grenadian families have used for generations, now connected to global markets through our traceability system.
📊
Grenada’s first Comprehensive Fishery Improvement Project for Tuna is a structured, multi-year improvement plan working toward MSC or equivalent sustainability certification. We track key performance indicators for stock health, fishing effort, and bycatch rates, then publish progress transparently.
🌱
Our full vessel-to-buyer traceability system is also our most powerful sustainability tool. By recording catch area, fishing method, and vessel for every fish, we create the data record needed to verify responsible sourcing. That same record helps detect and eliminate unsustainable fishing practices from our supply chain.
🐬
Our fishing partners follow practices aligned with NOAA Fisheries guidance on bycatch reduction and marine mammal protection, including the standards behind the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act Import Provisions. Circle hooks, gear modifications, and species-specific handling protocols help protect non-target species, including dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, and seabirds.
When you buy from GNExTT, your seafood comes with complete sustainability data, including catch method, fishing area, and vessel. This allows you to make verified sustainability claims to your own customers.
